A few winters ago I had a job in a local outdoor clothing shop in Keswick. This mostly consisted of trying not to fall asleep while selling things to tourists. One of the perks of the job was the staff training where we got to go out and test the stuff we were selling.
This photo was taken the morning after a particularly cold night spent in a wooden hut just above Ashness Bridge in Borrowdale. We’d all spent the evening and night freezing ourselves while evaluating gas lights, sleeping bags and several cans of beer. I woke in the morning to ice on the inside of the windows and on my drive back to the shop (yeah, we had to work again after) I saw this nice scene.
It was taken on the road that goes from Grange and around the bottom of Cat Bells looking back towards Borrowdale.
